During a lull in combat, the cry “medic” is heard in the distance. Armed with only
a medic bag and raw courage, this non-combatant exposes himself to enemy fire and makes his way towards the distant cry. In
a covered area, he finds a wounded member of his platoon. The wound is serious. Without hesitation, he stabilizes the wound
and prepares to evacuate his friend. Without concern for his own safety and struggling under the weight of the wounded man,
the medic musters every ounce of strength he has to save his friends’ life. The Brazos Valley Veterans' Memorial is
a bronze sculpture mounted upon a Texas granite base on twelve acres of College Station’s Veteran and Athletic Park.
The memorial honors veterans who have served in the uniformed services of the United States. Its purpose is to ensure that
the generations that follow us will forever recall with pride our veterans’ sacrifice on behalf of the United States
of America.
