Bolton Veterans’
Memorial – “The Scout” > Location: Main Street, Town of Bolton, New York Medium: Bronze Dimensions: 7’ tall Year
completed: 2000
Whether he is patrolling the hedgerows of Normandy, the jungles of the South Pacific, or the frozen
mountains of Korea, this is a scene far to familiar to many veterans. He is on a Reconnaissance mission. Walking as stealthily
as he can, this infantryman keeps a low profile. Placing one foot carefully in front of the other, he keeps his finger near
the trigger but not on it to prevent an accidental discharge of this Thompson sub machine gun. He carries all of his equipment
tied down to avoid making any noise that might alert the enemy. He wears the stripes and wrinkles of a seasoned NCO. His
experience tells him to stay alert. As the scout steps onto a stone, he hears something off to his right. He freezes for
a moment and shifts only his eyes. He knows his mission is not to engage the enemy, but instinct tells him, if need be, he
will dispatch his foe.

Brazos
Valley Veterans' Memorial
|
< Brazos Valley
Veterans' Memorial Location: Brazos Valley Memorial Park, College Station, Texas Medium: Bronze Dimensions: 7’high X 4 ˝’
wide X 6 ˝’ deep Year completed: 2002 During a lull in combat, the cry “medic” is heard in the distance. Armed with only
a medic bag and raw courage, this non-combatant exposes himself to enemy fire and makes his way towards the distant cry.
In a covered area, he finds a wounded member of his platoon. The wound is serious. Without hesitation, he stabilizes the
wound and prepares to evacuate his friend. Without concern for his own safety and struggling under the weight of the wounded
man, the medic musters every ounce of strength he has to save his friends’ life. The Brazos Valley Veterans' Memorial is
a bronze sculpture mounted upon a Texas granite base on twelve acres of College Station’s Veteran and Athletic Park. The
memorial honors veterans who have served in the uniformed services of the United States. Its purpose is to ensure that the
generations that follow us will forever recall with pride our veterans’ sacrifice on behalf of the United States of America.
